Grover 205G6 Mini Rotomatic Tuners, 6-In-Line, Gold Review

I honestly am not one to buy into hype of a certain brand of anything but Grover has me sold. Although I had to bore out my tuner holes a little bigger as these were for 25/64 drill bit (good piece of information) the end result was well worth it... These are solid tuners folks that seem to keep strings in tune with an iron fist. Unless you're doing Dimebag divebombs and racking on your whammy every couple of notes you're sure to stay in tune for a while. The gold looks as the pictures show and remember, these are mini tuners. Which I also found really cool as they don't look all bulky. Needless to say Grover has made a fan out of me.

Lace USA Ultra Slim Acoustic Review

I ordered this pickup for my Dobro (now Gibson owned) round neck resonator guitar. With the description of ultra slim and made for resonator guitars, I assumed Lace would sell something that would actually be ultra thin enough to mount on a Dobro resonator guitar. Not so, it was too thick where the strings touch the pickup when I tried to play higher than the 10th to 12th frets. I then tried the pickup on my Regal round neck resonator guitar. Same problem, not thin enough and the strings touch the pickup when I played the upper frets. Oh well, I have a Chinese made resonator with a tad thicker fretboard, where the strings only touch at the bottom two frets, which I would rarely play. So, I guesss I will put it on the Chinese made model. As to my Dobro model, I guess I will look for the National resonator guitar pickup which I understand is thin enough for round neck resonator guitars. I assume these Lace pickups sound great, I like all my other Lace pickups on non-resonator guitars. I just can't figure out why they make them for resonator guitars, yet, don't make them to fit. Unless they are only intended for the square necks. If so, they should say so.

I like the simple design and comfort of this strap. The strap attaches securely to the instrument using a hollow brass screw assembly. You won't have to worry about it slipping loose, however it does require the use of screwdriver to attach. My only complaint is that it is difficult to fit in my hardcase attached, but its also not convenient to remove because you need a screw driver.

The leather and fleece are high quality and handsome.

LOXX 13669 Strap Lock System for Electric Guitar/Bass (Antique Copper) Review

I REALLY hate change, since new stuff tends not to work out for me. ...but not THIS time. WOOHOO!!! :-)

I was just going to buy the usual Schaller Strap Locks that I would normally get for all of my guitars, but these LOXX Strap Locks were for a new Thunderbird bass that weighs significantly more than any of my guitars. The reason that this extra weight matters (to me, anyway) is because using Schaller-type strap locks moves the ends of the strap further away from the body of the instrument than using the stock strap buttons. Putting more burden on the area BETWEEN the body-mout and the strap.

My concern was that my heavy bass would put excessive strain on the Schaller screws and cause the Schaller to deform the screw holes or the screws themselves. Possibly leading to a dropped instrument. I HAVE seen multiple complaints about this in quite a sites/forums from "physically active" musicians. I don't do any EVH jumping with MY guitars, but I don't want to exclude that possibility in the future. hehe. :-D

Additionally, as the upper strap button is on the rear of my Thunderbird, I wanted a shorter strap button to ensure it would fit into my well-cushioned, but not-very-deep custom case. The part of the LOXX that mounts to the body is TINY, which is fantastic!

How did the LOXX Strap Locks do? GREAT!!!

-They work wonderfully
-They look great
-Make less noise that the Schaller's do when in motion
-Don't add unnecessary length to the ends of the instrument
-Lock/Unlock easily, but WITHOUT fear of accidental unlocking
-Come in a nice assortment of colors (I searched the "Musical Instruments" category for "LOXX")

***The only minimal/COMPLETELY solvable issue I did have:

I had a little trouble screwing in the body-mounted part of the LOXX system in "easily" (the last 1/4-inch or so), because the LOXX supplied screw/button was slightly longer than what was stock for this bass, and my Dremel wasn't charged. So, I recommend the use of a socket wrench rather than the included tool for the screw/button that mounts to the body (I don't own a socket set). This should make all of the difference in the world. I WAS able to torque it down, but used a piece of cloth to make it easier on my hand.

Overall, I love these things and intend to eventually get them for all of my guitars.

These have worked as advertised for me. I've had them on two electric guitars - a 6-string for a few years, and recently equipped a 12-string with them.

The locking feature makes string changes occur in minutes. The auto trim feature snips excess string cleanly and effortlessly. The 18:1 ratio makes accurate tuning quite easy. They're very solid-feeling. The guitars that they are installed on stay in tune longer than my other guitars.

The plated portion of the finish appears deep, and looks like it will last a while. The flat black peg won't go with every guitar finish.
