I'll start this review with a short background. I've been playing guitar for about 15 years and semi professionally for about 4 years. I mostly play classic rock, blues, funk, soul etc. but l like all types of music. My main amp is a handwired super reverb clone from Sligo amps. I purchased these pickups in an attempt to find a strat sound that is clear, spanky and not too honky/quacky

Installed these pups about a month back in my homemade parts-castor. The sound is excellent, pure vintage strat tone. The pickups do not come labeled as bridge middle or neck but all measure the same and the middle isn't rwrp, so as long as they're facing the right way, you can install them in any position.
The tone is very nice, musical highs that aren't ice picky, big thumping lows, and scooped mids. You can get a pretty good hendrix type sound. I've found myself enjoying the middle-bridge pickup position (despite the fact that no rwrp middle means no noise cancelling.) for the note definition and twangy spank, I'm not really a country player, but always find myself playing in that style on these things.

So, they sound really good. That is half the battle, but here is the issue. On top of positions 2 and 4 not being hum-cancelling, These pickups "pick-up" every little bit of electric noise around. Cheap power supply for your pedals: NOISE. Cell phone in your pocket: NOISE Bandmates lighting rig: NOISE.
The good news about all this noise is you can tame it considerably by installing copper shielding in your guitars cavity, problem mostly solved. Not trying to harp on this, but it is certainly something to take into account if you're buying these with the intent of recording.

Overall the sound is great and to me, overcomes the hum. i recommend these if you want a classic clean strat sound that takes pedals well.

Also you get a bunch of fender picks, some polish and a rag. Nice bonus but wouldn't make or break the deal for me either way. I probably would rather pay $15 less then get the extras.
